Pom Klementieff
Pom Klementieff was born on the 3rd of
May 1986. She trained at the Cours Florent drama school in Paris and has been
featured in such films as Loup (2009), Sleepless Night (2011) and Hacker's Game
(2015). She portrays the role Mantis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and
Avengers: Endgame (2019). Pom Klementieff was born in Quebec City to a Korean
father and a French-Russian wife. He was employed as a consul with the French government.
Her grandfather was a painter Eugene Klementieff. The name was chosen by her
parents "Pom" due to the fact that it's similar in pronunciation to
Korean words for "spring" and "tiger". Klementieff was a
resident of Canada prior to moving her family frequently due to her father's
work. After the move to France the family resided in Japan. Klementieff lost
her father to cancer around age five. Her mother was also diagnosed with
schizophrenia. Klementieff was raised in France by her aunt and uncle paternal.
Her uncle, whom she called "like [her] father" died at the age of 18
years old. Klementieff's older brother who took his own life seven years later,
was her aunt. After the passing of her uncle, Klementieff went to law school
for a short time to impress her aunt. However, she didn't consider the
profession appealing. She was also a waitress in France as well as a
salesperson. In the Cours Florent drama academy in Paris, she began acting at
the age of 19. After finishing her studies, she was awarded a competition in
theater that provided her with two years of tuition for free with some of the
best instructors at the school. Klementieff was first to act professionally in
the independent French film Apres lui (2007). She played the step-daughter of
the main character Catherine Deneuve. The filming process was a three-day
process. One scene had Klementieff pushing someone down the set steps, but she
fell. Gael Morel saved that scene for the final film. Loup (2009) is a French
film that focuses on the Siberian reindeer herders, was her debut significant
role. Klementieff was filming in an isolated camp, which was a few hours from
the closest village. The location was the one where temperatures plummeted to
zero.
