Maureen O'Hara Biography
Maureen O'Hara, an American actress and singer from Irish heritage, was a well-known figure. The green-eyed beauty sporting flaming hair was popular for her fiery and passionate roles in various American films. Her glamour and beauty were awe-inspiring. Her name was also known as the Queen Of Technicolor in Hollywood. Her onscreen characters reflected her own strong, courageous spirit who was fighting to be recognized and a part of the male-dominated society. She was referred to as the "tough Irish girl" and would not compromise her reputation or respect to gain the roles she was able to get on merit. Throughout her career in the film industry, she always stood up against discrimination and unfair treatment of women actors. Because of this, she gained many followers. Her autobiography, 'Tis Herself which was published in 2004, gave a candid and truthful story of her entire life's events, as well as her difficulties in climbing the ladder to success. She was an active woman who didn't hesitate in carrying out her own stunts. She was an actress in more than 60 films throughout the years and was the recipient of a fair amount of international recognition. After she left Parra the couple got married Charles F. Blair Jr. in 1968. Blair was a brigadier, a chief pilot. He was also an innovator in transatlantic aviation. O'Hara retired after few years of marriage. Blair died tragically in a plane crash in 1978, ending O'Hara’s joy. In the same year she was also diagnosed as having uterine cancer . She had to undergo immediate surgery. She was able to recover eventually. Her health began to decline in the course of time and she was diagnosed with heart attacks that caused six and short-term memory loss and diabetes mellitus type 2. On the 24th of October, 2015, O'Hara peacefully expired in Boise, Idaho, from natural causes at the age of 95.
